Thought I Would Never Make It

The last two weeks of driving home from class has been an adventure. And, it seemed as though I would never make it home. All the while, I really knew I would at some point. Last week...an accident or fire or something that had VA110 closed. I had to go south on 395, take an exit I had never taken, and make a u-turn to get back to 395 north. So, it took me an extra 20 minutes to get home. And, tonight I was able to get onto 395. All of a sudden, after I crossed the Potomac, traffic came to a dead stop. So, I was lucky enough to get over and exit onto 12th Street and head towards home. I cut over to 11th Street, NW to find a traffic stop. The police were checking for safety (ie: wearing seatbelts) and making sure that the car belonged to the driver. The officer was very polite and chatty. But, after about a 5 minute delay there I was on my way. It took me 25 minutes longer than normal to make it home tonight.

The pitfall of these late nights in school: I have difficulty getting to sleep at a descent hour. My mind keeps going for a while. Maybe too much stimulation too late at night? Heck, learning is always a good thing. Just makes me sleepy while I try to help people who need me to be on my toes. I think I pull it off ok. But, I guess I will find out tomorrow since I have a really long day scheduled.
