Wonderful Weekend
I had a great weekend. I flew into Raleigh on Thursday afternoon. On Friday, my mom, a friend and I drove to Kanuga, which is located south of Asheville. No televisions or phones there...well, they have payphones in the lounge area but not in the inn rooms or cabins.
On Saturday, we went to Saluda and looked at pottery and other miscellaneous things. It is a nice outing. Bought a Brie baker and can't wait to use it. Luckily, I have an event coming up pretty soon that I can check it out and see how it works. Saturday evening we went to the Flatrock Playhouse to see Foxfire. It was very well done. Just wish I hadn't been sooo tired.
Sunday, we drove back to Raleigh and I hung out with my mom for the evening working on a crazy Sudoku puzzle. It was a 16x16 and uses letters and numbers. More difficult than the regular ones that are 9x9 and only use numbers.
Today was shopping and then flew home. I met a really nice guy on the airplane. I was amazed that he spent several years working with special needs children in therapeutic horseback riding. I really think it takes a special person to do so. I remember thinking about wanting to do so at one time but my schedule wasn't consistent enough at the time. I would love to learn more about that and pet therapy in general. Maybe one day I can have my own office and take my dog with me to work. It probably wouldn't be my dalmation, but maybe if I get another Dane I will check into training for pet therapy. I think it would be great and fun to have in the office.
And, tomorrow is back to the grind. Reality is setting back in. I spent the weekend away from my school work. I need a longer break! Remind me not to take classes all summer long again! ;-)
Interesting fact I learned over the weekend: Soldiers that are sent back to DC have a greater chance of being shot and killed in DC than in Iraq. Might make one think!
