The First Day of My Third Year
Today was the first day of my third year in the PsyD program. My days at school are going to be long. I have two classes and a seminar. My first class, Physiological Psychology, is from 9:15-12:15. Then I have seminar from 4-5p and the other class, Professional Ethics, from 5-8p. Today the break from my morning class to the seminar seemed endless and couldn't end fast enough. I am sure that will not be the case as time passes and I have more and more school work that needs to get done. This is going to be a tough year and will require a lot of studying and reading. And, this is likely to occur on weekends since I will be working one day a week and then in practicum two days a week. There goes the social life?! :-\
I knew one of my classmates was from LA but I wasn't sure how close to New Orleans his family was. I ran into him today and asked how things were back home for his family. He said his family was safe, which was most important. It seems as though his family has lost everything. It has been reported that his neighborhood had anywhere from 9 to 21 feet of flood waters. I also learned that another classmate was from New Orleans. It is possible that her mother will come live with her for a while. It seems like her family and friends have also lost everything. I have not heard any news on another friend who lives in New Orleans other than they had evacuated to Houston before the hurricane hit land. Please keep my friends and their family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
