The Poor Old Knee...
...is on the road to recovery. I went in to the hospital on Tuesday around 10. It wasn't long before they took me back to prep me for the surgery. I don't recall too much from before the surgery. And, apparently not too much for quite a few hours afterward. I had a difficult time coming out from under the anesthesia and ended up spending the night in the hospital. It was a good thing...other than the roommate and her antics all night long...because I ended up getting sick. I was home around noon on Wednesday.
The gist is this: ACL reconstruction using the patella tendon, something with the meniscus, and some of the cartilage (apparently it was a 50-50 thing that I could end up back in surgery in 6 months so he took care of it). I am scheduled to go in on Monday and have the stitches taken out of my leg. And, boy am I looking forward to that...likely to pass out on the man. I already warned him though.
I have been sleeping much of the time. I am able to get up and down a bit. The first couple of steps are difficult but I am ok afterward. I am having some itching sensations underneath all the bandages (hoping that is a good sign of healing). And, the pain appears to be fairly minimal without movement and only slightly higher with movement while on the pain meds. The worst part is standing or sitting down. My foot is really swollen and is a little concerning. Might call the doc tomorrow about it.
Off to try and stay awake to watch Grey's Anatomy.
