In the News

I was listening to the news tonight and heard something that struck me as odd. Not so much because it was in the news, but the realization of how things are said. The anchor was reporting about a woman who had died and stated "She left behind two children." To me, that makes it sound like the woman intentionally left her children. They were talking about the woman being murdered (gruesome, I know...but ever so common on the news here...unfortunately). I feel like it would be better to say that two children were left behind as a result of her death. Thus, making it a result of her death rather than it sounding like the woman did so purposely. All about wording?! It just struck me as odd.
