England

I had a blast despite hurting my knee. More about that later. Each leg of the flight over was late leaving. But, we finally arrived and drove to Luton. We pretty much hung out during the day with our friends. We were exhausted. I tried to sleep on the plane. It seemed like every time I fell asleep the English gentleman next to me would bump me. He was so very tall and had little leg room. We went to see Casino Royale that evening. I kept nodding off. I didn't want to but I couldn't keep my eyes open.

On Sunday we went to Milton Keynes for a little shopping to help the guys find that perfect NYE outfit. No such luck. Had dinner at the hotel and got dressed for the big evening out. We had a few drinks in the hotel. Grabbed a cab to the club and began the night. It was great fun until I hurt my knee and couldn't walk. I thought I was going to pass out it hurt so bad. The guys were great and carried me so that I could sit down. And, somehow I still managed to have a great time. I am smiling in all the pics afterward! They had to carry me out of the club and into the hotel. Bless them! That was quite a few stairs down at the club and up stairs at the hotel. It was a fun night regardless of the knee.
New Year's day was spent being lazy until our drive to Plymouth. We had dinner after we arrived and then my friend's took me to Accident and Emergency. Yes, I got to experience British socialized medicine. The hotel seemed dirty. And, the doctor saw me for 2 minutes after waiting hours. He poked and prodded and told me everything was intact, to keep it mobile, and take ibuprofen for pain!

The next day we toured around Plymouth. It was windy and cold. And, the pain was crazy. But, I was determined to keep going and doing. The worst part was when my knee felt like it was going to buckle. The town is very neat.
The next day another friend picked us up and we headed to the east of London. We stopped by Stonehenge on the way there. It wasn't nearly as large as I had expected. But, well worth the stop. You can no longer walk up to the stones. That evening we went to dinner and to shoot British pool. They use a smaller table and the balls were red and yellow only.

We spent our last full day wandering around London. We had an awesome lunch. The day was good just wandering around and seeing some of the sites. We ended up at Wetherspoon's for the evening hanging out and having a few drinks together. We left there about 11 to catch the train back to Chatham. Packed our bags and went to bed.

The next morning we headed to the airport. And, there we had to consolidate the bags as they only allow one carry-on. You can't have a purse and a backpack. Only one bag period! Uggh. But, we managed. I had asked for an aisle seat which caused some chaos. But, I figured I needed to be on the aisle due to my knee. The lady changed our seats but we weren't together. And, then once at the gate, we realized she put both boarding cards in my friend's name. The stewardess wouldn't listen to either one of us. So, after about 15 minutes of chaos, they finally figured out what happened and we began to taxi out. Once in the air and over Ireland, the plane had to make a 360 to go to a higher altitude due to turbulence. So, the flight was that much longer. Customs was easy. We had to recheck our bags and the lady told us our flight was cancelled and to go to this long line. Luckily a Continental agent was there and found a flight for us without waiting in line. Lucky us, it was leaving earlier than our original flight but was going to DCA versus BWI. No problem. Our bags are rechecked and we head to the gate. The plane was supposed to leave at 7. They began to board us at right after the sign changed to 7:30. And, soon after it changed to 8. Yet, it was about 7 that we boarded the plane. The lady in front of me was drunk and obnoxious! She kept throwing her seat back when it wasn't even allowed. We finally left after 8:30. And, made it home about the same time as if we had taken our original flight.
