Productive Day and Thoughts
I had a fairly productive day as far as school is concerned. I was able to complete my postings and read other postings for my online class. I finished a presentation I am to give on Tuesday. And, I finished a journal summary due in a little over a week. I finished this early since I have a paper due next Saturday and my psychopharmacology midterm that following Tuesday. It is definitely a busy couple of weeks as far as school is concerned.
Tomorrow will be spent working on the study guide for psychopharm and I will attempt to get started on my paper for my online class either tomorrow or Monday. Luckily, I only have 6 classes left until I am done with my class work (to complete the program).
However, I will have comps this summer. And, they have already geared up to prepare us. Yikes! I am thinking it shouldn't be too bad. I have taken plenty of these types of exams. But, it is also a lot of information to know and prepare for. They will give us a video on day one to watch. We will have to diagnose the client, write up two case formulations and a treatment plan in a span of 8 hours. Then a week later we will go back for another 6 hours to answer 8 questions in different areas of psychology as related to the correct diagnosis. The areas include lifespan/developmental, ethics, cognition and affect, physiological, pharmacology, assessment, diversity, and treatment efficacy.
I will also start the application process for internship in the late summer/early fall. Well, as long as I pass comps. This process seems overwhelming and daunting. I know that I will make it through the process and feel lucky that I am a couple of classes ahead to lighten my load.
All the while I will be working on my CRP (dissertation of sorts). I still need to narrow down my topic and write my proposal before the end of this semester...which happens to be about two months away.
All of this means that I am nearing the end of my education path...at least in this area. I would like to specialize in neurological psychology which will mean two years post doc. There is a program in this area that counts as a post doc for neuro psych. And, it is geared toward working professionals. So, we will see what happens and where I end up for internship.
